"Dr. Ashuza Shamamba is a Congolese physician, clinical researcher, and PhD candidate at University College Dublin (UCD) under the supervision of Prof. Jane O'Halloran. His doctoral research investigates host–pathogen interactions in pediatric mpox, aiming to improve understanding of disease pathogenesis and identify biomarkers associated with clinical outcomes.

He coordinates the CEPI-funded SMART trial on mpox in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the ACCEPT-EPSILON trials evaluating investigational therapeutics during the ongoing Bundibugyo virus disease (BDBV) Ebola outbreak.
